Sylvia R. Lawson-Cook is a Licensed Master Social Worker. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Sociology-Criminology and a Masters degree in Social Work, both from Ohio University. Sylvia joined Calo in August 2020 as a Preteen Clinical Therapist. Prior to Calo, Sylvia had over 21 years experience in the field of social work. She had over 15 years experience working with children and their natural families, kinship families, and foster and adoptive families. She has been a clinical therapist in the children’s homes, schools, and residential centers. These children experienced trauma in a variety of ways, including prenatal exposure to drugs and/or alcohol, physical/emotional/sexual abuse, and dependency as a result of their natural caregivers’ mental health or other factors, which deemed them unsafe or unable to care for their children. Sylvia enjoys working with children who have trauma backgrounds to help give them a voice and provide space for them to feel safe. Sylvia has been in the Lake of the Ozarks area since 2018 and enjoys spending time with her spouse, children, and grandchildren.
