Hello, my name is Drew Hornbeck. I have a BA in Sociology from the University of Minnesota. I have been working in the field of Adventure and Wilderness Therapy for over 15 years. I helped design and implement therapeutic, academic, wilderness, and residential programs across the country. Over the span of my career, I worked with youth in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Montana, Colorado, Alaska, and Hawaii.
In returning to my home state of Wisconsin to raise my family, I found there were limited treatment options in the Midwest for teens (especially for those who were not responding to traditional treatment interventions). I developed a small program in 2003 designed to inspire teens to make more positive decisions. Upon meeting Steve Sawyer for the first time in early 2007, I found that my program designs and passion for helping teens were a great match with Steve’s vast clinical expertise. Together along with our amazing team of professionals, we have founded a unique, positive, and effective therapy model for teens and families.
My role at NVW includes Admissions and Program Management. I have a hands-on approach to running NVW and my personal mission is to ensure that the physical and emotional safety of our clients is the number one priority at all times. I am happy to speak with parents about NVW. When not at work, I enjoy spending time outdoors with my wife and two beautiful daughters.
